A stove-top simmer pot is another natural way to make your house smell fresh.

6. DIY Mason Jar Air Fresheners
Did you know that you can make all-natural air fresheners in a jar with just baking soda and essential oils?
Simply put about ½ cup of baking soda in a small jar, along with 10-12 drops of your favorite essential oil.
You could place a small piece of breathable fabric over the top of the jar, and secure with a ribbon or band for a pretty look.
Another idea is to poke a few holes in the lid of a mason jar so that the air freshener can breathe.
Fill your home with the delicious smell of summer using one of the blend recipes in the Seasonal Essential Oil Guide.
Shake the jar periodically to reactivate it. If you notice the smell starting to fade, simply add another 4-5 drops of essential oil.

10. Open the windows
The absolute easiest way to make your home smell and feel like summer is to open the windows.
If your neighbor just mowed his lawn, even better!
Opening the windows will help freshen the stale air that built up all winter.
Maybe you’ll even hear the ice cream truck and kids playing, and enjoy both the smell and the sounds of summer.

13. Clean with a lemon
What? Clean with a lemon? Yep, it’s a thing!
If you prefer to have only all-natural scents in your home, you may want to use an actual lemon instead of lemon-scented cleaner.
Just slice the lemon in half or quarters, and use it like a sponge, or squeeze the juice to mix with water in a spray bottle.
Some things you can clean with lemon or lemon juice are:
- Wood cutting board
- Toilet bowl
- Soap scum
- Glass and mirrors
Go forth, and enjoy those sweet smells
