FAQ and tips for making kabobs:
1. Cut ingredients in uniform sizes
This way they cook evenly, without some raw pieces and some burnt ones!
2. Marinate and season your ingredients to add flavor
Ideally, marinate your meat for at least one hour. Try a dipping sauce to make it even more fun!
3. Soak wooden skewers before grilling
Soak wooden skewers for at least 30 minutes so they don’t burn on the grill.
An overnight soak works even better!
Or use reusable metal skewers so you don’t have to soak.
4. Keep ingredients with similar cooking times together
Quick cooking veggies like cherry tomatoes can be on their own skewer, for example.
When in doubt, put all of one ingredient on each skewer. They actually look really cool that way!
5. Preheat the grill
For best non-stick results, make sure the grill is hot and clean before adding kabobs.
6. Brush the kabobs with olive oil so they don’t stick.
An oil brush makes it super easy.
7. Use the proper grilling tools
Use tongs to flip skewers so you don’t burn your fingers. Trust me on this!
8. Beware of hot skewers when serving and eating.
Warn your family or guests of the hot skewers, and best of all, allow the kabobs to rest for 5 minutes.
Letting them rest also helps keep the meat juicy.
